From the article:

“I’m sure the citizens mean well, but we cannot assume this in every case and we do not want to advocate this behavior,” according to the Army Command Operations Center-Security Division letter.

THIS. It was my first thought—who are the people at the recruiting centers to know these armed wack jobs aren’t anti-government conspiracy theorist types? For that matter, how do they know they’re not Muslim terrorists? I mean, everyone should know by now that “Muslim” isn’t a race or identifiable ethnicity—they (we) come in diverse shapes, sizes and colors.

I can’t believe this country is going on 15 years after 9/11 and people are still so stuck on stupid WRT terrorism threats. *smh*

Thanks for putting this up, although I’m late in reading it. Kansas City local news was reporting a group of veterans called Op6 were going to stand as armed guard at recruiting offices. None of the reporters were concerned that the group they interviewed was started to help veterans that are having issues with suicide. Link

And yet one of the security guards at the closest grocery store I go to has un-holstered his gun and told me not to say anything Arabic or he will shoot me in the head. Last week. No the police won’t do anything except to tell me maybe I should move. (I dress conservatively, white/blue eyes/light brown hair) Two weeks ago my city council person’s aid told be she had heard I was one of those damn mooslims, she has guns and she just wants to kill all those damn mooslims after what they did to this country. It hasn’t calmed down, it’s gone mainstream. I’m going to go ship watch for a bit.

re: #2 becominginvisible

Yeah, there’s a lot of hostility out there. The New York metropolitan area is far from perfect, but it’s a hell of a lot better than many other places, which is the main reason I refuse to budge from here.
