Arizona Cardinals Make Jen Welter First Female Assistant Coach in NFL History
All it takes is one organization willing to look past the gender barrier that has existed in football since its inception. It’s no real surprise that the Arizona Cardinals, led by head coach COH +0.13% Bruce Arians, is the franchise that took that all-important first step on Monday.
The team announced that it has hired professional football player Jen Welter to work with its inside linebackers during training camp and the preseason. As an intern, Welter will make history as the first female assistant coach in NFL history.
