MS GOP rep campaigns on pro Confederate Flag platform
So this showed up at my house today, it’s an election mailer from one Jeffrey Guice who is running for re-election to the Mississippi State Senate. As you can see, it included an interesting detail…
So basically he’s taking pride in the fact he voted to keep the flag in 2001 and he’s saying that if the people vote again to keep the flag then why not?
You might also notice he mentions how he “fought Obamacare and Common Core”. How exactly does a state legislator fight federal laws? More than likely this is alluding to the fact that he supported Governor Phil Bryant’s refusal to accept the medicaid expansion for Mississippi.
And then finally, he’s got the right wing trifecta of Pro-life, pro-family and pro Gun.
Amazing how many right wing triggers he could hit using only five bullet points.
I attempted to go by his site to get a better idea of his positions (and critique) the web design but imagine my surprise at discovering he doesn’t even have a campaign website! His only official site is his page on the official Mississippi state government site and it contains absolutely no information on his positions.
Guice is running against one other Republican in the Aug. 4 Primary. So far, no Democrats have stepped up to run against the eventual winner in November. That’s about par for the course here in MS because Democrats don’t usually think they have much chance to win.
Until that changes and I don’t expect to for at LEAST a few decades we can expect more of the same around here I’m sure.
