And on cue Scott Walker joins the gang rape plan of the GOP for the American citizen.
You know that the “businessmen” Mitch is quoting are the Kochs and their ilk. Fuck us all.

Once again the party that constantly barks about freedom demonstrates they don’t like the concept at all.

Mr. Walker’s core argument is that unions inhibit economic growth and job creation, and that union leaders - “big union bosses,” in his words - hold too much power over public officials.

Ha! These days, compared to mega-corporations, unions have so little lobbying clout that they’re a joke.

At an appearance scheduled for Las Vegas in the afternoon, Mr. Walker plans to call for making it illegal for federal employees to join unions, extend right-to-work policies across the nation and eliminate the federal agency that investigates unfair labor practices.

That last part is new to me. Even if one were to buy into the propaganda about corrupt “big unions” or whatever, how does one rationalize attacking the idea of enforcing labor regulations? By falling back on “feds = bad / regulations = bad” simpleton crap?

This part is an admission that this crusade against unions has nothing to do with any real or perceived excesses of organized labor, and everything to do with helping mega-corporations s*** all over their employees with impunity.

When you remember people paid with their lives to organize, this is about as blatant an attempt to criminalize ordinary citizens as you can get. Read the comment sections of paper after paper, blog after blog. The majority of the posters squeal with glee over the fact that the last vestige of Union power and influence is being smashed by a corrupt and bought political party. The manufacturing section of our economy was reduced to almost nothing, and now the money goes after the last vestige of any influence a Union may have. And all the self serving drooling hyenas who only wish to see somebody, anybody punished, that they are told is “bad” for “us”, cheer. Stupid people who rant and rave about other peoples gardens as they shit all over themselves. This is nothing new. As is the entire GOP Tea Bag argument. It is only the past showing up in different clothes. The right to organize and collectively bargain. That was bought with blood. Now the moneyed hyenas drool as ordinary citizens applaud their own demise. Vile is the new norm in right wing insanity.

The strength of organized labor is the most striking difference between the US and the formerly impoverished European economies that are leaving us in the dust.

We need to see more real militancy from unions. I don’t mean violence, of course, but mass demonstrations, civil disobedience, blockades, and a continuous, non-stop policy of confronting anti-union politicians at their town hall meetings and similar appearances.

SEIU’s effort to organize the private security industry has had some success and it needs some attention and support from the rest of what is left of organized labor in this country. This is important because it deprives the bosses of the goons they are accustomed to using to intimidate and suppress labor action. Clearing out a sit down strike? If the guards join the strikers, the bosses will have to get the police. The cops may well be willing to oblige, but the politicians in charge can be made to take a serious black eye over it.

re: #5 Shiplord Kirel

I have some personal experience with this. When I was a child in England in the 50s, English people were poor compared to Americans. Most middle class, let alone working class, families did not own cars and many did not yet have television, at a time (circa 1956) when car and tv ownership were already well nigh universal even among even poor Americans. Horse drawn carts were a common sight in market towns and often in bigger cities. The difference in continental Europe was even more striking. The standing joke was “What’s the difference between a rich American and a poor American? A poor American has to wash his own Cadillac.”

Anyone who has been to the UK or western Europe recently will know how different it is now.
