They were probably the assholes who were shooting at three women and 2 little kids while we were camping and our husbands were backpacking overnight to find a cave. Turned the spotlights on us and started shooting. It’s not like there are a pile of people living out there (and we were on public land).

Maybe I guess but awfully hard to say for sure. Did you guys call the Sheriff? I read a bunch of different articles on this, waded through some wingnut waters and found no mention of violence from this family. No threats nothing. Now a bunch of loons have made terrible comments but that’s not on these people. I’m a little puzzled that this family is getting the opposite of the benefit of doubt in some places.

Pending actual threats or violence or even at least some civil disobedience they deserve the same benefit of doubt you or I do.

We loaded up the kids and the dogs and got the hell out of there. We went to the The Little A’Le’Inn and spent the night at their “motel” (actually a trailer with locks on the bedroom doors…it was weird). We also told the police, but they didn’t do anything.

I wouldn’t want to live next to Area 51. It was pretty freaky with all the signs warning that they would shoot to kill and the people patrolling on their side of the fence with their weapons. I really don’t feel very sorry for them. They were offered millions to move and they didn’t want to.

To me the bar for taking away land even if paid for should be very high. Really unavoidable. Property ownership is one of the reputable and honest ways to grow equity and certain opportunities over generations. Of course they did not move there, Nuclear testing and all the secrecy that goes with Area 51 came to them.

I call bullshit.

The Air Force wants the land because, after decades of escorting family members into the highly restricted space, it can no longer ensure the family’s safety during the “near-24/7 operation” at the base, officially known as “The Nevada Test and Training Range.”

It’s property that has had radioactive fallout from all the nuclear testing done years ago. I’m calling bullshit on that land being worth anything.

Oh, and just read in a Fox News story that one of the co-owners admits that nobody lives on the property nor mines anything there.

Why should living there now be required, and where is the data it’s radioactive? Those were underground tests right? And if it’s radioactive it’s the governments responsibility to clean it up and or be fully responsible for any loss in value right? Same as anyone else or why are we treating these people differently?

And BTW what if they had nothing to do with that incident you endured?

If they were underground tests, why were there mushroom clouds that people in Las Vegas could sit out and see?

They had a chance to have people come onto the property to assess the value and they refused. Their loss because they could have had $5 million for that property that probably isn’t worth close to that. If they thought the value was higher, they should have let it be appraised. It’s their own damn fault.

Oh, and I don’t care if they had anything to do with the incident that occurred to me and my friends. :-)
