Fall Television Season Kicks Off Tommorrow
While several shows have already premiered, (notably The Bastard Executioner, Ray Donovan, and Fear the Walking Dead, ) the returning and new shows mostly start premiering over the next few weeks. In my humble quest to prevent a DVR conflict I’ve compiled the shows that are on the list to either record or check out in our family. This does not include any food network reality shows, BBC, Netflix, or Syfy, we tend to do those on Demand or in weekend binges.
Let’s start with Sunday, but there’s really nothing starting until 9/27 when the canceled CSI runs its last episode, a 2 hour finale with the usual past season stars returning (if you are worried about Ted Danson, he appears to be sliding into a role on CSI Cyber.):
- Madame Secretary 7:00 PM CBS 10/4
- The Librarians 7:00 PM TNT 11/1
- The Good Wife 8:00 PM CBS 10/4
- CSI Cyber 9:00 PM CBS 10/4
- Quantico 9:00PM ABC 9/27
Then Monday, where several premiers start tomorrow night:

- Fargo 9:00 PM FX 10/12
- NCIS: Los Angeles 9:00 PM CBS 9/21
- Blindspot 9:00 PM NBC 9/21
- Castle 9:00 PM ABC 9/21
Then Tuesday:

Then Thursday:
- Grey's Anatomy 7:00 PM ABC 9/24
- Heroes Reborn 7:00 PM NBC 9/24
- Bones 7:00 PM FOX 10/1
- The Blacklist 8:00 PM NBC 10/1
- The Player 9:00 PM NBC 9/24
- Elementary 9:00 PM CBS 11/5
- Person of interest 8:00??? PM CBS???
and finally the viewing wasteland that is Friday:
- The Amazing Race 7:00 PM CBS 9/25
- Grimm 8:00 PM NBC 10/30
Person of Interest is in a scary place if you like the show, this season CBS has only ordered 13 episodes, and it’s premiering at an indeterminate mid season time. It might be that they are holding it back as a counterpunch for a show that flops or to surprise and sap audience from another network’s programs. (e.g. NBC is making a strong bid to try to dominate the non-Shondaland demographic of Thursday nights.) If there are shows I am missing that are worthwhile, please do bring them up in comments! Typically most of these will fall off the list within a couple of weeks of start. Netflix is doing Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, more to come in the future on that, and you might want to follow The Flash if you are interested in “Legends of Tomorrow” since there will be alternate timeline and universe ties ins. AMC”s “Into the Badlands” is slated to premiere sometime in November.
