Nevada Brothel Owner Matching Employee’s Student Loan Payments—Doing More Than Most Employers
I have often accused the GOP Congress of saying “f**k you” to struggling students. Looks like it’s literally true.
So, ask yourself: who has done more for student loan debt and women, this pimp or our congress?
Sex sells, and legalized brothels do very well. The Moonlite Bunny Ranch Brothel in Nevada boasts more than 500 women in its employ. Owner Dennis Hof estimates that around 20% of the young women working for him carry some student loan debt.
Another worker, who goes by the name Caressa Kisses, was also carrying a $40,000 debt load. She said she left Bunny Ranch nine years ago to study as a surgical technician at High-Tech Institute, a for-profit school in Las Vegas. But she couldn’t find full-time work in her field after finishing the program, and she headed back to Bunny Ranch in 2012.
Caressa said she’d been making the minimum payments, but a floating interest rate made her debt load balloon back to $32,000. Hof started doubling her payments last year, and she paid off the last of her balance three months ago.
Is this a publicity stunt? Probably. Are the employees of the Bunny Ranch getting help paying down their student loans? Yes.
