I never cease to be amazed at the Republican’s ability to ignore actual facts and reality.

re: #1 PeterWolf

I never cease to be amazed at how they’re always crying about the government’s fiscal inefficiency & profligacy, then turn around and waste taxpayer millions on frivolous, redundant committee hearings.

I wonder if anyone has tallied it all up: The PP hearings, the Benghazi hearings, the home-grown radicalization hearings (which essentially focused exclusively on Muslims instead of looking at ALL potential threats), bills to gut or repeal Obamacare… the list goes on and on. Then there are the government shutdowns (both actual & threatened), our downgraded credit rating brought on by their political brinkmanship.

How much has all that cost so far, I wonder?

Oh, and jobs—what about those jobs bills. Well, back in 2014 Boehner claimed there were more than 40 that had been passed by the House, but on closer scrutiny all was not what it seemed. Surprise! Here’s what Google turns up for jobs bills 2015. Doesn’t appear very promising, does it? But wait! Look, America—here are all the bills (H.R. or S.) so far for the 2015-2016 session, all 6,023 of them! Yay, Congress! // Now tell us how much that cost us…

Just look at the history of the crackpots Boner put on this committee. This really is the insane clown posse.

The SOBs in congress don’t do a damn thing except bogus investigations.

the home-grown radicalization hearings (which essentially focused exclusively on Muslims instead of looking at ALL potential threats)

And that is an issue in itself. The actual reality of the statistics quite clearly shows, Muslims are not the gravest local threat, by any means. But then, what can we expect when Fox and a vocal minority define the Republican agenda?

I have no place for religious fundamentalists of any stripe. And while in the US there’s no shortage of anti Islam bigotry, it’s the fundamentalist Christians (Praise the lord and pass the ammunition) who are a bigger threat.

And do we even need to mention Mexicans?

They’re doing it mainly to look good to the tea party and wingnut welfare donors.

So “Benghazi committee” is now synonymous with “deeply partisan, overtly political, very expensive, relentless, tone-deaf, arm-flapping hoax”. Good job, GOP.

They’re doing it mainly to look good to the tea party and wingnut welfare donors.

Of course, this in turn makes you wonder why, since those wingnut welfare dollars have a tendency never to reach the supposed recipients…
