Conference on crisis in the Middle East & conquest of extremism
We may have got a control of fatal diseases such as Ebola but our societies are far from feeling secure. Security is a man’s desire and what politicians always promise to achieve. A great catastrophe that voids our security today is terrorism and extremism. That was the topic of a conference held at the French National Assembly on Tuesday, October 27th. The conference was sponsored by the Parliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran headed by Mr. Dominique Lefebvre, member of the French National Assembly. A number of representatives of French people attended or addressed the conference.
The Parliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran announced at this conference that 70 National Assembly deputies from various parties had issued a declaration calling on the Government of France to make its diplomatic relations with the Iranian regime contingent upon improvement of human rights, halt to executions, freedom of political prisoners and respect for democratic freedoms in Iran. The signatories emphasized that a democratic Iran is the essential requisite for regional stability and to this end, the Iranian Resistance and the ten-point plan of Maryam Rajavi for a democratic, non-nuclear Iran based on separation of religion and state and women’s equality must be supported.
A number of deputies including Mr. Bruno Le Roux, president of the Socialist Group; Michel Terrot; Stephane Saint-André; Martine Carrillon-Couvreur; Pierre Aylagas; Jean-Patrick Gille; Jean Lassalle; Catherine Quéré; as well as Senator Jean-Pierre Michel attended and some addressed the conference. Mr. Nazir Hakim, secretary of the political board of the National Syrian Coalition; Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, former Vice-President of the European Parliament and President of the In Search of Justice Committee; Mr. Taher Boumedra, former human rights director of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq - UNAMI, in charge of the case of Camp Ashraf at the United Nations, also spoke to the gathering.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, leader of the Iranian resistance who spoke at the conference drew the attention of the participants to the blatant violations of human rights in her country. She warned that what has driven the Middle East to brink of war is the export of terrorism and fundamentalism by the Iranian regime which is the other side of the coin marked by systematic and flagrant violations of human rights in Iran. Criticizing the west for its policy of turning a blind eye on the regime’s interferences in the region Mrs. Rajavi pointed to the war mongering policies of the Iranian mullahs in the region proclaiming that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is behind the terrorism in the region. She added, “The solution to the crisis in Syria is eviction of of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and giving concrete support to the opposition to achieve a Syria without Bashar al-Assad”.
Iranian Resistance’s President-elect said,” Many in the West think that the mullahs’ belligerence comes from their power. They thus seek to engage the regime in resolving the crisis in the region that actually they are its prime cause. They overlook the regime’s fundamental weaknesses and fail to notice the elements of change in Iran”. Speaking about the extremism in the region Mrs. Rajavi asserted, “If it were not for the mullahs’ all-out support for Assad and Maliki, ISIS could not develop, 300,000 Syrians would not have become victimized and there would not have been a tidal wave of refugees flooding Europe.”

Rajavi also referred to the recent interview by Rafsanjani, second powerful man in the Iranian government, who admitted that this regime had been trying to produce nuclear bomb. She also declared that the mullahs have undertaken a more aggressive policy to compensate for their retreat in their nuclear projects. “The flagrant rise in executions, increased aggression in Syria and continued siege and oppression of Iranian refugees in Camp Liberty are examples of this policy”.
Mrs. Rajavi concluded, “Regime change and democracy in Iran is the key to crisis in the Middle East and conquest of extremism”. She called on the European Union and the United States to fulfill their pledges for the protection of Camp Liberty and termination of its inhumane blockade.
