If this does indeed happen, it’ll be interesting to see where in the Star Trek universe the series goes.

Bill and Opus for 2016!  Nov 2, 2015 • 3:42:31pm

From what I saw on this story over the weekend, it was stated that the new TV series will not be in the JJA “reboot” universe - that is reserved for the feature films only.

Part of the reason for this is due to the Paramount split that took place during the last decade with the CBS/Viacom merger and subsequent brand spinoff.

CBS Corporation controls content of Paramount TV (all non-film Star Trek properties) while Viacom owns Paramount Pictures (films). The two divisions are separate and distinct, and for the most part do NOT share franchise properties.

re: #3 Bill and Opus for 2016!

Hurray! That makes me quite happy to hear. Now if only we can get at least a cameo return for Avery Brooks, I’d be very happy.

I’m not involved with fandom, but my guess is what fans want to see is a Next Next Generation, a chance to leave the well-traveled TNG time period behind while using the existing continuity to “reboot” using the familiar Enterprise “continuing voyage” concept in a new era.

I don’t think the movie reboot will continue after 4 movies, so Paramount is going to need something.

I guess it’s getting close and closer to a time where all TV is streaming via these a-la-cart packages, and cable companies can FOAD. I don’t know if it will be cheaper tho.

If my vote counts for anything, I’m interested in the post-Zephryn Cochran, pre-James Kirk time period. Forming the Federation, the first time earthers met vulcans, or klingons, the shouldn’t-have-done-thats that were the reason for the adoption of the Prime Directive…

They could carry on with the “Enterprise” timeline after the Season 4 reboot. Maybe with a different ship.

I wouldn’t mind a post-Dominion War scenario, either, but it’d probably be too gloomy, with most of the “victors” prostrate after all their losses.

My only complaint about this is why do I have to pay $6 extra just to watch Star Trek?
