For some reason, the Religious Right is ticked off that Starbucks didn’t include religious symbols on its cups this year, even though the Seattle-based corporation has never done so before.

THIS. This makes it one of the idotic outrages the wingnuts have ever come up with. These people have suffered brain damage or something—I can’t think of any other explanation for this level of stupidity.

re: #1 CuriousLurker

It’s the result of a constant barrage of misinformation by those who benefit from having us at each others throats. Fake history, false quotes, untrue statements and outright lies. “Oh. he says Gawd is needed today…And I agree…..Even though every other thing he stands for and will fight to become law will hurt me and my family and neighbors…..I’m going to vote for him.” See Kentucky. It’s a freaking disposable coffee cup. It’s like a salt lick for stupids.

As I posted on my FB page when a friend posted on the subject (He holds the same viewpoints I do basically)

I will not buy any more from Starbucks because of this cup. I also will not buy any LESS from Starbucks because of this cup. This cup affects my Starbucking by exactly 0.0%. Now if the cup leaked it would be a problem, but it’s a cup. So far none have leaked, and I have no reason to be upset.

Have gotten more likes on that one post than most of mine on FB.

I can. What looks like insanity could be a calculated power move. Remember, the same people who are going nuts at Starbucks are the same who tell the rest of us—Jews, Muslims, African Americans, everybody else—that our mischegas doesn’t matter and we have to suck it up. But their concerns, no matter how petty, always matter. Why? So that we all remember who’s the boss.

Two things:

1: Did Starbucks change their cups for Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or Ramadan? No? Then shut up.

2. There is no better symbol for the birth of the babby Jesus than an ice skate?

Starbucks certainly supports Veterans, as their new tuition program proves. They are putting their literal money where their mouth is, as opposed to all the right wing lip service towards supporting veterans.

The Right have become outrage junkies, thanks in large part to the Fox business model.

Between the constant stream of anger from talk radio, from Fox, and from the other conservative media establishments, it’s no surprise that the addicted need their fix, and that anyone with half a mind to do it can point at anything, turn it into a slight against the aggrieved, and watch it blow up into a frenzy of wharrrgarbll.

I’ve got the answer! Next year, make the holiday cups all blue! After all, the first full day of Hanukkah is December 25, 2016.
