Ok. I tried to add block quotes so I could insert pithy, insightful comments between paragraphs. Not happening.
The purpose for posting this is to attempt to establish a base point for discussing where Hillary stands on the issues.
Is Hillary inside the DLC fold on issues like Climate Change and TPP? Economic Equality? Military engagement in the Middle East?
The core questions about Hillary seem to revolve around whether she intends to govern from the DLC right or as a Progressive.
Hillary’s recent criticism of single payer health care suggests she has already made the centrist pivot and will not even bother campaigning as a progressive.
Let the tea reading commence!

Hillary’s recent criticism of single payer health care suggests she has already made the centrist pivot and will not even bother campaigning as a progressive.

And any progressive who refuses to support Hillary for this reason is suggesting they are ok with 17 million people losing health insurance altogether.

See how this works?

I’m wondering why you’re using a proxy server to visit LGF, when that’s clearly prohibited by the rules you saw when you registered.

Are you trying to hide something?

I tried reading. Not happening.

PS: I lied. I didn’t try.

I have no idea how to find or use a proxy server. I am using a not so smart Boost phone that mostly does what it wants. I am working an Amazon Fire upgrade into my budget that may or may not help me figure out how to even use your site’s software.

re: #2 bratwurst

I see the problem. If it wasn’t for Obamacare I wouldn’t have healthcare at all.
What I fail to see or understand is the solution to Democratic internecine squabbles that are heartfelt on both sides.
The DLC stranglehold on the party has been a barrier to progressives in Democratic primaries at local and state levels. This is not a new problem. I am deeply concerned about a replay of the Bush v. Gore fiasco. I am also baffled how Hillary’s attack on Bernie’s single payer plan helps or even what electoral purpose it serves.
Candidates usually pivot to “the center” after the primary.
I do not see Bernie running as an independent. I do see a big problem with getting Bernie supporters to turn out in large numbers in the general, let alone knocking on doors for Hillary. The “progressive soldiers” in the Democratic party tend to be progressive. They are clearly not happy campers.
IMO, triangulation looks like a recipe for failure in this election at the state and national level.

I’m just saying, you sound an awful lot like someone trying to sow dissension and poison the well for progressives in the election. We’ve seen this type at LGF before; it happens every election, and I’m really getting that vibe from your posts and comments.

Wait, this supposed pot smuggler who also claims to have been a GOP delegate for George H.W. Bush might be a troll?

Who could have guessed?

re: #7 Charles Johnson

Well I just don’t know. This is me trying my best to communicate and discuss deep seated problems that are highly inflammatory. Back in the day I used a bullet point at the top of my resume: *Not a people person.

It worked! At the interview I was asked what my biggest weakness was and I pointed to the bullet point. I wish I could have used Colbert’s classic: “Sometimes I work so hard I forget to cash my check.”

Have I expressed any opinion that has not been featured at the progressive blogs listed at the Infomania section of Digby’s blogroll?

I am a long time blog lurker who stopped even reading comments years ago and am doing my level best to learn how to use your nifty blogging features and participate in the conversation.

re: #10 bratwurst

I really don’t get it. The Old Pot Smuggler was a light hearted reference to my college days days in the 70’s when I did a little “pot smuggling” from Colorado and California back to the midwest. Just picking up a little pocket change and meeting chicks. What college students did and still do?

I protested against Vietnam and smoked Panama Red at Earth Day events.

I actually jumped ship to the Republican Party in 1982 out of curiosity and to stop Reagan’s nomination. At that point in time I was a typical independant-not real happy with either party.

I tried to clarify that with my comments about walking away from the Republican party after Reagan’s war against the Air Traffic Controllers.

I was and am shocked at how far down the rabbit hole American politics and media coverage has descended. If being a Berniac whose favorite site is Hullabaloo makes me a troll, then I’m a troll.

Peace Out.

Someone still hung up on their “college days days” in the 70s at this point is either pathetic or a troll.

My opinion is that you are both.

Why is this on “featured pages?” I always figured it was chosen by Charles or another editor. Hamsters work in mysterious ways……

Beats me Boondocksaint. I certainly didn’t get promoted here based on style points. Was it my numerous burnt offerings to The Kush Gods?

I smell concern troll.

Also, OP, please don’t reprint more than about four paragraphs from a source, or the copyright lawyers will get antsy.

re: #21 wheat-dogghazi-mailgate

Allrighty. Although I don’t think Matt Stoller, mattstoller.com is going to stress out over a book review reference. He seems to be a fairly busy and level headed young man.

As far as being a concern troll … hmmm. It seems self evident thay there is genuine reason to be concerned about the toxic cocktail of religion and politics that is consuming our political dialogue.

All we have to do is figure out how to have a civil conversation about the two topics you never discuss at work or family reunions.

Peace Out.

Logging out to listen to the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award show on 100.3 The Sound L.A. Once again my linking skills fail.
Peace Out.
