Spare me, please.

The Republican Party I know and belong to is not xenophobic.

The Republican Party I know and belong to is not hateful and brutal.

The Republican Party I know and belong to is not violent.

The Republican Party I know and belong to is not undignified.

This is your Republican party. They are bigoted. And hateful. And violent. And undignified.

Ok, they may not be what you want, but that is what they are.

Not your party? Exactly your party.

As your subtitle suggests, he’s a day late and a dollar short.

If Muslims don’t get to apply the No True Scotsman fallacy WRT the extremists in our midst, then the GOP doesn’t either. This is especially true when party leaders—up to and including the Speaker of the House—have pledged to support Trump.

My Republican party isn’t about hate and fear, its about redistributing the nation’s wealth to the 1% richest Americans. But how are you going to get the rubes to vote for that except by appealing to their hate and fear?

As well-meaning as I think the author is, he is in denial of what the party as a whole has become.

He must be talking about the Eisenhower-era East Coast Republicans, their 1950something platform was pretty decent. But that ship sailed a looooong time ago.

Where was he when the GOP went over the cliff after 2008 and began its plunge into the abyss? Was he standing silently on the sidelines, clapping his hands and grinning at the antics of the TPers and GOP politicians as they riled their supporters up to a level of unnecessary anger and hatred not seen in modern times? Did he refuse to vote for them, knowing they were destroying his alleged beloved party? Was he writing at HuffPo and other outlets, calling them out? It appears to me he was doing the first, and now that the GOP/TP train has fallen farther into the abyss, he decides it’s suddenly time to sound the alarm? Not buying it. He’s one of the silent majority /s/ in the GOP/TP who decided early on that he could tolerate the outrageous behavior and lies of his party leaders and members as long as it could be used to win elections and he wasn’t embarrassed by them. He’s embarrassed now, and as far as I’m concerned, he earned it.

Didn’t matter when your Republican Party was screwing everybody not of them. Women, minorities, Muslims, gays, sick and elderly , even the vets. But now that your hate machine might just run your ass over you are concerned. Right. Hey, your Republicsn party just blocked funding for aid to Flint Mi. You’re sorry. Fuck off. Speak to the hand.
