Special Note to Curious Lurker: I believe this is the article that you and I have been referring to for a little while. If you find another one from another source please tell me. Thanks.

re: #1 PhillyPretzel

The one I read was in the NY Times. It has a lot more details and shows how Trump tries to get rid of the competition so he can “win.” I remember it was this article because it said how the guy he tried to get to drop out refused to cooperate and how Trump has a lot of animosity towards Gov. Cuomo. Emphasis added:

Mr. Long [chairman of the state’s Conservative Party—CL] said he went to Trump Tower in December 2013, “under the pretense that Mr. Trump would be there.” Instead, Mr. Long experienced something even more surreal: He arrived at Mr. Trump’s office, only to realize that Mr. Trump was not there and he would be speaking to him by phone.

It was clear, Mr. Long said, that Mr. Trump was “up to speed” on New York issues, and that he had a real animus toward Mr. Cuomo. But Mr. Trump, unwilling to face competition for the nomination, told Mr. Long that one condition for his candidacy would be to get Rob Astorino, the Westchester County executive who was already planning to run, out of the race.

“I made it clear to him, that’s not how politics works,” Mr. Long said. “It isn’t us picking up a phone and telling a candidate you can’t run.”

Around the same time, Mr. Trump reached out directly to Mr. Astorino, whom he knew for many years through his golf club in Briarcliff Manor in Westchester. When they met at Trump Tower, Mr. Astorino said he told Mr. Trump, “Look, my intention is to stay in.”

Eventually, Mr. Astorino recalled, he was asked (though he would not say by whom) to consider joining a “unity ticket” in which Mr. Trump would run for governor and Mr. Astorino for lieutenant governor. Mr. Astorino would become governor after Mr. Trump declared his presidential bid.

“I didn’t think that was fair to me, or the people, or the process,” said Mr. Astorino, who ended up losing to Mr. Cuomo. […]

“Winner” my ass—Trump is a cheater, a big fake, who doesn’t even want to get into the ring unless the other guy is agrees in advance to throw the fight.

What a vain chicken-shit he is.

Okay. Now we have two sources for the same story. Good. If needed those articles via their links can be pulled out. The reason why I am saying this is because I may show this information to some locals in politics. For now it is on the back burner on simmer.

Totally OT, but this made me think of you because it made me think of Downton Abbey for some reason. Maybe it was the cat’s name—it sounds like it would be better suited to a butler or something, heh.
