How did the customer know the waitress was gay? Did the waitress say, “Hi, I’m Judd, your waitress, and I’m gay”? Did the customer see Judd having sex with another woman? This is what bothers me about such things. If a bigot ASSUMES someone is gay, they treat them as such. There’s a bit of a proof problem for these bigots.

The other thing: it’s also true that the verse doesn’t say “if a woman lie with womankind” which should be important to a judgmental bible literalist like the bigot who left that “tip.”

I’m also sure that this customer adheres to all 250 or so Commandements scattered in Leviticus and elsewhere, most of which call for substantially violent penalties or significant restitution.

Or probably not.

How about this passage from Leviticus? Leviticus 19:13 - “You shall not defraud your fellow. You shall not commit robbery. The wages of a laborer shall not remain with you (till morning).”

This is a time when the original version of the Golden Rule, attributed to Rabbi Hillel, works better: What is hateful to you, do not do to others. I assume these upstanding church-going women might want someone to try to “save them” or pray for them (eg. “do unto others”), but I doubt they want a stranger to judge, condescend to and cheat them.

I would not be surprised if that customer had the ham, bacon, sausage & cheese omelet.

Is there some independent confirmation for this? Seems like these stories crop up periodically

Why don’t you go investigate, maybe you can get the rage furby to assist?

From the story, it’s quite clear how the Good Christian(tm) ladies knew the waitress was gay: the waitress is active in the LBGT community, including the rally against the bill NC signed recently.
