Not sure what Trump has to do with this, but these sovereign citizens are a bunch of crazies and there are lots of them. I’ve spoken to them in courthouses, seen them get locked up for defying the judge and got in an argument with one of them once. He said he wanted to talk to me outside and I thought I was going to sign up a client. Once I started talking to him I realized he was a sovcit and I said, “You’re going nowhere with this bullshit.” and started walking away. He yelled at me, something like, “You can’t get an attorney ID card!” I said, “If I want an ID card I’ll go to New Brunswick and get one!” My friend has the best story. This sovcit was giving the judge a hard time in a criminal case, refusing to answer and spewing sovcit nonsense. The judge said, “I think I’m going to have to send you to jail and get you a psychiatric evaluation. You should be out in about six months and then we’ll proceed with your case.” Suddenly the sovcit became very cooperative.

The twitter hashtag is #socitpa. I’m not into twitter but I read that one because I find these freaks fascinating. JJ Mcnab tracks them and she is at twitter.com. There’s a board at quatloosia.blogspot.com that reports on them. I’ve only been there a few times, but they have a bunch of lawyers and such who report on sovcit activities in the legal system. I read Kenneth Medenbach’s pro se motion to dismiss yesterday - hilarious! These idiots don’t seem to realize they are going to be in prison for a long time.

I will also add that as in most “alternative” movements, at the top of the food chain you will find many con artists. The sovcit movement is no different. They sell books and videos and all kinds of crap - they’re fleecing the rubes. I’m not sure about Stewart Rhodes, big cheese of the Oath Keepers. The guy has a law degree from Yale!

re: #1 mroop

Because, in my opinion, this is the sort of America Trump and his followers want. One where dissent and difference are not tolerated.

I don’t believe this sheriff is a con artist. I believe she is quite honest about her beliefs and the actions required by those beliefs. Con artists make people want to give up their freedom. Aristocrats take that freedom at the point of a gun.

I agree, the sheriff is a full blown nutbag, not a con artist. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Regarding Trump’s America, I think Trump never wanted to be president and only cares about politics insofar as how any policy might affect his life and his ability to make money and that was before I read this:

“Almost a year ago, recruited for my public relations and public policy expertise, I sat in Trump Tower being told that the goal was to get The Donald to poll in double digits and come in second in delegate count. That was it.

The Trump camp would have been satisfied to see him polling at 12% and taking second place to a candidate who might hold 50%. His candidacy was a protest candidacy. …

I’ll say it again: Trump never intended to be the candidate. But his pride is too out of control to stop him now.”

In regard to his followers, they are scary. In one sense I respect them. They rebelled against their leaders who made promises they never intended to keep. I wish the Democrats had done the same thing. I think the biggest issue is income equality. Hillary is in the pocket of Wall Street and will continue the ass kissing of corporate America just like Obama. America is doomed. You will be able to pee in the bathroom of your choice but you won’t be able to afford anything in the store. Thanks Obama! :)

Independent Lens on PBS recently aired “Park Avenue: Money, Power and the American Dream” directed by Alex Gibney. If you have a Roku box or an Apple TV it’s available and probably streaming on pbs.org as well. It’s an excellent doc.
