Law Enforcement Lobbyist Falsely Claims Pro-Police Speech Is ‘Markedly Absent’ From Obama
So many times we have to trust yet are betrayed by advocates. Sometimes they are nearly a sole source of information on issues that remain unpopular or merely obscure. I call it advocates disease. Some will strive so hard to push for change, they depart reality. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.
Some police union leaders have had some pretty egregious positions on things like stop and frisk, broken window policy and especially body cameras.
This also pertains to Hilary Clinton indirectly. I have friends of various persuasions with a lot to say about HRC. I offer them one warning-I only want the non fiction version. The minute we go all Vince Foster I’m out. Done.
One can argue Obama should do or say more, or some would argue less of this speaking amidst high controversy with many facts still not in. That’s all reasonable. But to take it to rhetorical extreme just makes me tune out.
Maybe the analogy would be that the ASPCA gets my monthly donation. PETA only gets my contempt. So anyway here is a clip from his speech in Warsaw where we might have expected the topics to remain with NATO, BMD and resurging cold war tensions. But he too the time to say the following words. Even the most ardent critic of this president has no business ignoring what was actually said, where and when it was said.
Speaking from Warsaw, Poland, Obama condemned violence against police and praised police officers in seven hours after the Dallas attack.
“As I told Mayor (Mike) Rawlings, I believe that I speak for every single American when I say that we are horrified over these events, and that we stand united with the people and the police department in Dallas,” Obama said.
Obama also spoke the day before the Dallas attacks in response to the shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana by police officers. Most of the statement focused on the need for reform in policing, but Obama also addressed the idea that police were under attack in the debate about excessive force.
“And so, to all of law enforcement, I want to be very clear: We know you have a tough job. We mourn those in uniform who are protecting us who lose their lives,” Obama said.
