It’s Already Sexism Season on College Campuses!
Your calendar might be telling you it is still July, but the wheels are already turning for the upcoming school year…and naturally, the latest rash of appalling stories of what women have to deal with on American college campuses.
We begin this season at Texas A&M University, a public school and the fourth largest educational institution in the country.
According to the Houston Chronicle, two assistant football coaches put together a “Chalk Talk” presentation to educate women on the sport as part of a fundraising event.
The program included a version of the “Aggie War Hymn” re-written for the ladies:
Maroon & white are the colors we love
We are putting down our dish towels
And taking off our glovesNo more Lysol or Cascade
We want to score touchdowns
And walk in the parade
This is amazingly sexist, obnoxious, and downright stupid…but the real nastiness came in a slide show presented to those in attendance:

The two coaches responsible were suspended for two whole weeks. They were also forced to issue a public apology.
According to the article, there has been a lively discussion of the event and the reaction on the university’s message board. There (and certainly elsewhere) the repercussions to this event will be given as an example of excessive “political correctness” in our culture.
Personally, I would have a HUGE problem with college football coaches or anyone else on earth talking to the female college students in my life this way.
