Ann Coulter Hammered by Conservatives for Smearing US War Hero’s Dad as ‘Angry Muslim’

Shortly after Khizr Khan, the father of Army Captain Humayun S.M. Khan, took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, conservative commentator Ann Coulter sent out a tweet to mock the father. And many of her colleagues on the right took offense.
“You know what this convention really needed? An angry Muslim with a thick accent like Fareed Zacaria [sic],” Coulter tweeted, referring to CNN host Fareed Zakaria.
Khan’s son, CPT. Humayun Khan, died serving in the U.S. Army and was hailed as a hero after telling his fellow soldiers to step away from a suspicious vehicle near Baquba, Iraq. As Khan approached the car, it exploded.
Captain Khan was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
