re: #1 Great White Snark

You’re welcome. I worked hard on it, and spent a lot of time editing it. Even so, I somehow missed a couple minor spelling errors and had to go back and re-edit it after I posted it.

Excellent post, Critical Dragon! You make so many valid points. I think one of the best is that although Petersen may not believe it, the alt-right has no love for him. They’d mistreat him the same way they would mistreat me based solely on the fact that our complexions are darker than theirs. I was born in 1952 and grew up under Jim Crow laws in GA. I remember the legally-imposed separatist policies that were meant to keep blacks in their “place.” What I’ve never understood about my black peers on the right, [Carson, Clarence Thomas, Petersen, and others] who also claim to have grown up under Jim Crow laws, is their total ability to deny the existence of racism, and their inability to acknowledge that if the alt-right gains significant political purchase in this nation, it will definitely use that power to bring back many of the foulest practices and laws that existed before the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965. The alt-right will make no special option to exclude the aforementioned individuals from these laws and deplorable practices. This is what I view as the major flaw in their thinking and in their defense of white supremacism and white supremacists.

re: #3 majii

I don’t get the impression that Ben Carson or Clarence Thomas have rode the crazy train off the deep end anywhere near as far as Jesse Lee Peterson. Both of those people seem to be a bit more grounded in reality when it comes to racism than he is. As far as I can tell neither of those two ever outright denied the existence of racism and claimed that David Duke’s hatred of Jews was because of anger and not racism.

re: #4 CriticalDragon1177

I get what you’re saying about Carson and Thomas. I’m viewing their support for the alt-right in the GOP by their refusal to speak out against the racism and bigotry they know exists in the GOP and in America. Thomas voted to remove Justice Dept. oversight in voting changes in states by going along with the other four justices’ belief that “racism is dead in the U.S.” As for Carson, I’m viewing his support for the alt-right by his willingness to denigrate other Black Americans, specifically, with his claim that “Blacks are on the Democrat Plantation” BS. Of course, there are other things I’ve seen them say/do that make me think they’re very similar to Petersen in their willingness to deny the existence of bigotry and racism in America and it’s huge negative impact on the lives of millions. I grant that they’re entitled to their beliefs. What I object to is their cowardice when someone in the GOP says and/or does something they know is wrong and they lack the backbone to say it’s wrong. For example, Carson went to Detroit with Trump after Trump claimed that all of us blacks live in poverty, in inner cities, and are unemployed. Carson knows he doesn’t fit that stereotype, but he probably didn’t confront Trump about his claim, he just went to Detroit and pretended to give the impression that he thinks Trump is the best thing to happen to America since sliced bread.
