Rouhani’s Visit to UN, Degrading Humanity

Amidst the deep internal economic corruption, social protests and violation human rights in Iran, Rouhani’s visit to UN on September 28, 2016 confronted with a large rally of Thousands of Iranian-Americans in New York condemned his visit to UN. They Demand that the international community hold the Iranian regime’s accountable for its abhorrent human rights record. At the rally, participants condemned the international inaction regarding the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses.
President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs Maryam Rajavi, commented. She said: “…so long as the United Nations hosts them at the General Assembly instead of arranging for the ruling mullahs to face international tribunals for crimes against humanity, it means that they are standing against the Iranian people’s desire for freedom and democracy.”
Former Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman, said: “We say to the United Nations don’t be fooled by Rouhani’s smile. The Iran nuclear agreement has not changed the behaviour of the regime in Iran. The British Barrister and President of the UN Court for War Crimes in Sierra Leone Sir Geoffrey Robertson said: “By mid-August 1988 thousands of prisoners had been killed in this manner by the state, without trial, without appeal, and utterly without mercy. What happened in 1988 was a crime against humanity. Crimes against humanity are of a special hideousness. This dreadful act has never been punished, has never even been investigated… They cannot be forgotten and they cannot be forgiven. There is a duty on the world community represented by the United Nations to take action.”
Pastor Saeed Abedini, until recently imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith said: “Still we stand with the victims. Still we stand with people in prison. Still we are going to be a voice for them. You are alive in our heart. You are alive in our voice, and still we are standing with you.”
Today, there are millions of Iranian under the rule of government of Rouhani who are fighting for their rights. They live in fear and isolation, their identities criminalize. 2700 people have been executed under Rouhani, since he took office.
According to one senior official of Rouhani’s government “the country immersed more and more in corruption”, he asked: “What happened to us that economic corruption has become so common in our society? “Iran under Rouhani is one of the poorest countries in terms of medical specialists per capita.
Iran supreme leader Khamenei has given Rouhani full Rights of aggression on Freedom of opinion, Belief and Religion and Free hands in Torture and Degrading Liberty.
In the summer of 1988, the Iranian regime summarily executed 30000 political prisoners most of them members of main Opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), held in jails across Iran. The massacre, one of the biggest human atrocities since World War II was carried out on the basis of a religious decree by the Supreme Leader Rouhollah Khomeini. At the time of the horrible massacre, Rouhani was Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces.
Based on the Statute of the International Tribunal at Nuremberg, the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran can be regarded as “crimes against humanity” or “genocide”. Officials of the ruling regime in Iran who are the perpetrators and accomplices of this heinous crime can be brought to justice in international courts. Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, Justice Minister in Rouhani’s Cabinet, and member of death commission in 1988 massacre flagrantly says: “We are proud that we have implemented God’s Commandment in this regard.”
Families and mothers of victims who are known as “Mothers of Laleh Park” in an open letter called for justice for the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran and indictment of all officials of the Iranian regime. They said: “We demand removal, trial in courts and punishment of all those criminals who occupy the highest judicial and executive positions and authorities in Iran. Our homeland in the past 37 years has been invaded by those who have brought nothing but evil and enmity of freedom, justice and equality. ”
