Gov. Christie Was Happy to Hear of Fort Lee Gridlock: Ex-Crony
Gov. Christie was “happy” when he learned that gridlock had overwhelmed Fort Lee following the mayor’s refusal to endorse his reelection, his former loyalist at the Port Authority testified Tuesday.
David Wildstein recalled in Newark Federal Court that he and his boss, Bill Baroni, bragged to the governor about their political retaliation scheme during a “relaxed” conversation on Sept. 11, 2013 at the World Trade Center site - the third day of the traffic tieups in Fort Lee.
Wildstein has pleaded guilty for his role in implementing the closure of the lanes on the George Washington Bridge from Fort Lee and is testifying under a cooperation agreement with the government against Baroni and former Christie staffer Bridget Kelly.
