It Takes a Union!
With the Presidential Election a little more than a month away, union members are being heavily courted by both campaigns. While both candidates claim to be pro-labor one candidate actually has a record of working with unions, while the other has a long history of screwing them over.
Throughout the campaign Hillary Clinton is often looked at through the lens of the mainstream media which has been covering her for nearly 30 years. They focus on the sexy stories like an email scandal and who her husband has slept with. Often, they fail to cover the real work that Clinton did during her eight years as a Senator of the Great State of New York. Now the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) came out with a video highlighting some of the work she did to prevent a lockout of Local 97 utility members and to protect their jobs and livelihoods.
More: Experience matters
Indeed, in Manheim, PA, on Saturday night, The Donald asked for a hands up for AFL-CIO members in attendance at his rally.
There was dead silence.
“All right, not too many,” observed a befuddled Trump. “Where are you?”
This election gives us a clear choice between a candidate who has stood up for organized labor and their hardworking membership compared to a candidate who has worked to bust them. As voters go to the polls across the country, they will need to decide whether they want to elect a union-busting, deadbeat builder, or someone who labor can rely on to have their backs during their darkest hour.
Yes, no truer words were ever more important:
Workers are worth every penny they demand. We no longer live in the times of Upton SInclair’s The Jungle or King Coal where workers (many of them immigrants) were expected to be glad to be treated like crap for pennies a day.
As a worker, look at the two candidates and seriously and honestly ask yourself who will be your best ally and advocate in the White House.
This IBEW family knows who has our votes…the woman who is with us.
