It won’t surprise most regular LGF readers to know that Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, and Frank Gaffney are three of Bannon’s so-called “experts” on Islam who are actually hateful extremists themselves.
Others, some well-known by the general public, and some only well-known in certain circles include: Michael Flynn, Clare Lopez, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani.
BTW, for what it’s worth I think the headline s incorrect. IMO, Bannon doesn’t think these people are experts, he’s fully cognizant of what sort of hate- and scare-mongers they are—they provide exactly what he’s looking for to feed to the American public as a path to power & influence.
Steve Bannon, whom President-elect Donald Trump chose this week as his chief strategist and senior counselor, has a history of claiming that certain anti-Muslim extremists are in fact experts on Islam.
Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News ― a site that regularly airs white nationalist viewpoints ― used to host a Sirius XM radio show called “Breitbart News Daily.” According to a September report from Mother Jones and the Nation Institute’s Investigative Fund, Bannon conducted dozens of interviews with anti-Muslim extremists on the show in the past year. These guests offered paranoid accusations and false conspiracy theories about Muslims, all of which went unchallenged by Bannon.

By the way, do you remember Hamtramck, that city in Michigan that was the first to elect a Muslim-majority city council in 2015 and which (since 2013) has been estimated to be the first Muslim-majority city in the U.S.?
Guess what? It’s still there and Sharia hasn’t been imposed (no stoning or chopping off of heads/hands), non-Muslims aren’t required to pay a special tax, and non Muslim women aren’t being raped in the streets or forced to wear hijab. Weird, huh? It’s almost as if people have been scare-mongering about the supposed threat Muslims pose to the American way of life and democracy.
