I commented on HuffPo (I think) back when this first came around. Damn right this family endangered the child. There were a lot of issues. First, how did they know the child had salmonella poisoning when they were wasting time in the shower? Fact is they didn’t know what was wrong at the time. Why didn’t they just take the child to the doctor in the first place instead of creating a tender moment? A child with the symptoms of salmonella, including high fever and severe nausea and diarrhea, is in danger.
I think it’s wrong to say above that the photographer is being convicted of publishing a photo. That doesn’t make any sense and the writer should know better. In fact, I think the writer does know better and is trying to distort the story. The issue is whether the family neglected to get the child proper medical care when it started getting the symptoms of salmonella.

First things first, this Page is about the photographer possibly being charged with a crime, necessarily a wholly separate topic than parental obligations. Maybe the writer focused on the photographers aspect because it’s a photographers blog. Just sayin.

In my at somewhat studied opinion-First Amendment wins here. The photography was permitted by the parent. FB can censor as it pleases, but in my view the photographer did nothing wrong. Not morally and not certainly not criminally.

I can not ever have the knowledge of being there or the authority of being the parent there. You arrived at some rather harsh conclusions. I can only hope you have far more knowledge than I of the parental obligation side of the story. I have not seen the article you refer to. Can’t deal with so many facts not in evidence. FTR, I’ll trust the police on that one, and since child services is going after the photographer and not the parent, I’m even more puzzled by the incident. FB CENSORS is such a clickbait thing… Meh.

For clarity, the Mom was parent and photog. Jumping through legal hoops to charge some mystery offense for one role over a non chargeable offense (if any at all) from the role as mom? Despicable.
