I couldn’t possibly disagree more. This naïve “let them speak” approach has been totally disastrous on social media, where Nazis are now more prevalent than ever.

I’ll confess to being doubtful about it myself.

However these people do becloud themselves when allowed to speak and it does, I think, remove the moral high ground. They can’t claim persecution if nobody keeps them from speaking.

Still thinking about it though.

They’ll claim persecution anyway. Their claims of persecution are never based on actual persecution, they’re rhetorical tricks they use to convince people with weak logic skills.

On the other hand, when Nazis and white supremacists ARE shut out of Twitter, like Milo and like Chuck C. Johnson, it definitely harms their ability to spread their sick ideas and network with other creeps; that’s why they keep threatening to sue Twitter, and trying to sneak back in with sock puppet accounts. Social media gives these racists a huge megaphone and amplifies their influence, and they know it.

I sincerely believe Twitter’s stubborn refusal to deal with these kinds of people was a major factor in the election of Donald Trump. We can never stop them from speaking, but we shouldn’t give them free rein of social media because it poisons the discourse and drives away decent people who we SHOULD be listening to.

People who think we should allow them to have unlimited access to services like Twitter are being really, really naïve to think this will ultimately result in discrediting and shutting them down. It won’t. All you have to do is look at what’s happening on Twitter right now to see clear proof that this strategy is a pipe dream.

“Let them speak” is the reason we are where we are. Rush Limbaugh has been poisoning minds for over 25 freaking years. Alex Jones and company own the AM airwaves. Fox news uses the “I’ll report this lie and you re-report it” and Joe Schmuck sits there and says “Yeah. I heard that too.” Yeah. Because the entire right wing marches on talking points and all in lockstep. The very dirtbags that were exposed here years ago now have a larger voice because of “let them speak.” The problem is they speak and other voices are drowned out. They need to be confronted at every turn. Print. Social media. TV. And the MSM has done a pisspoor job of it. No. They have no high ground. They are poison. They are fascist. They need to be confronted. Twitter has failed. Facebook has failed. NO.

I think they should claim persecution.

Because I think we should persecute them.

There is not duty to be fair to evil.
