Laugh or Cry: Charles C. Johnson’s Fake News Tearing Apart Trump White House
OK, I may be grasping at straws here, but seen from a certain perspective, this is perhaps a good thing.
Charles C. Johnson, part-time floor-shitter & fulltime Rage Furby, is still doing what he’s always done: produce inflammatory “news” that mostly consists of unsupported allegations and dubious conspiracy theories.
Only now his audience includes one Donald J. Trump. And Trump is lashing out in “volcanic” fury at his staff in the White House, based upon the allegations in CCJ’s articles. From Politico today:
… someone mischievously gave the president a printed copy of an article from GotNews.com, the website of internet provocateur Charles C. Johnson, which accused deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh of being “the source behind a bunch of leaks” in the White House.
No matter that Johnson had been permanently banned from Twitter for harassment or that he offered no concrete evidence or that he had lobbed false accusations in the past and recanted them. Trump read the article and began asking staff about Walsh. Johnson told POLITICO that he tracks the IP addresses of visitors to his website and added: “I can tell you unequivocally that the story was shared all around the White House.”
White House chief strategist Steve Bannon defended Walsh, who has since left the administration to advise a pro-Trump group, in a statement to POLITICO: “Katie was a key member of the team and is a trusted friend and ally of the White House. No one in the White House took that article seriously.” Walsh declined to comment.
But the smear of one of Priebus’ closest allies — Walsh was his chief of staff at the Republican National Committee — vaulted from an obscure web posting to a topic of heated conversation in the West Wing, setting off mini internal investigations into who had backstabbed Walsh.
Oh, Christ. That’s right. This guy is the basis for (*runs to bathroom, barfs*)

Do we laugh or cry about this? The fact that the President of the United States is 1) reading CCJ’s delusional bullshit 2) takes CCJ’s delusional bullshit seriously 3) bases important decisions on this bullshit 4) leading to the Trump’s White House staff tearing itself apart as it responds to wild-eyed paranoid ravings.
Here’s my breakdown.
Laugh: Trump is such a dumbass delusional rube (seriously, read the Politico article, he is showing all the signs of mid-stage dementia) that he goes off and acts impulsively when he hears anything that contradicts his fragile self-image. Thus, he is easily manipulated. CCJ’s ravings are thus contributing to the utter dysfunction of the Trump regime. And CCJ himself is easily manipulated; a total fish, he’ll believe anything.
So. Feed CCJ disinformation about how the Koch brothers are secretly arranging for Trump to be impeached; or that Limbaugh and Fox are stabbing him in the back; or that Mitch McConnell jerked off into his extra scoop of ice cream, whatever … and wait for the delayed-action explosion.
Cry: If we can figure this out, so can everyFUCKINGbody else. That includes Russia, China, the oil industry, Goldman Sachs, etc. etc. Trump is a puffed-up middle school bully. Flick him in the nose, and he will charge barefoot over broken glass, roaring in blind rage, trying to assuage his wounded soap bubble of pride.
So. Maybe the next piece he gets says that the muslims and illegal immigrants are about to rise up and murder all the white people in the midwest, and the only safe course of action is to round them all up, put them in concentration camps until we can “figure out what’s going on.” Or that the Ukrainian government is secretly working with ISIS, and we should make a deal with the Russians to let them take over the rest of the country too to stop them from nuking Jerusalem.
Everything’s on the table now.
Will their incompetence cause them to self-destruct before they can do real damage?
