Great Speech! I would have posted it here if you hadn’t. Hopefully they will post new monuments to replace them!

That is what’s required in the South. Here, too. Some real insight.

I noticed one of the things he did was talk about the local community above all; and so many of the issues of race started in N’Orleans. The part of his speech when he talked about the two families, Plessy and Ferguson, who have reconciled and are now friends, was quite moving. Also, the happiness of hearing a Southern White mayor talk about “our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln” really warmed the cockles of my heart.
