A few days ago an F-16 crashed on takeoff at Ellington AFB, fortunately no lives lost. The plane is surely a write off. Then an F-16 of the Thunderbird team flipped in heavy weather at the air base. Again, no lives lost, that plane is destroyed.
An unarmed RQ-4 Global Hawk drone was lost in Inyo Kern while flying from Edwards to Beale.
Perhaps the worst is the damage caused by a tornado on two very rare expensive E-4 B “doomsday” command and control jets. Half the fleet. These are the planes that the Secretary of Defense uses to travel or in the event of war, manage WW3. That fleet should be four planes, one on alert, one in use, one in periodic maintenance and another usually in for major work. FEMA needs to fly one in the event of a major catastrophe.
