San Gabriel Mountains in Spring Years After the Station Fire
Today we explored Big Tujunga Canyon, Upper Big Tujunga Canyon, Mt Wilson and parts farther east on State Highway 2 also known as Angeles Crest highway. It was hot and muggy in the SFV under an inversion so we thought to get to where it would be more comfortable. We could enjoy that unique sound the wind makes in high pine country. It’s a very different sound than where leaves flap in the breeze. pine needles produce a seductive sibilant hiss that comes and goes. It’s as if the air chose to whisper instead of howl. Early on we saw the fire patrol heli.
These are all about Mt Wilson.
There was an area near where hwy 39 above Azusa meets Angeles crest. The view east is amazing. This is where we sat and just listened.
I was feeling perspective and composition today and I was caught looking right up
the right tree. For Once.
That is the shot I got.
A different take on the look of the air…
Or this.
I hope you all enjoyed this peek at our local landscapes.
