Advice for House Dems: Trump Is Not the Real Enemy. Fox News Is.
At the risk of sounding like a one-note chorus, in the aftermath of taking back at least one of the levers of control over the USA, the House Democrats have a veritable Augean Stables-size task awaiting them.
So. Yes, we have to subpoena Trump’s taxes, the records of the fuckery at the Department of Education, Interior, Energy, Defense, basically the entire government that has been looted in public for the last two years. Make Don Jr. and Ivanka and Jared all testify under oath and lock their asses up when it turns out they’ve been using the government of the USA to line their own shitty pockets.
Do that. But the bigger task is the fundamental problem: at least 1/3 of the country lives in a fantasyland fed to them by the propagandists at Fox News.
Before we can start healing the divide in the US, Fox News must be brought to heel. It is the key tool that supports Trump, and McConnell, and King, and all the other batshit racist goons. They can rely on Fox to cover up any mistakes - mistakes by Republicans simply don’t exist in Foxlandia.
Iraq War over nonexistent WMDs that Fox claimed were there? Never happened.
Economic collapse because of magical thinking Republican economic policies? Nope.
Climate change causing death and destruction that grows every year? Chinese conspiracy.
The only way for the United States to start making rational decisions again is if we eliminate Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Breitbart and all the other cynical opportunists making fat stacks of cash by lying to frightened stupid old white rural rubes.
There’s a movie about this. See if this quote resonates with you. From Brainwashing My Dad:
Gradually, my Dad had become a completely different person. He was angry all the time, and you couldn’t discuss anything remotely political with him. At the same time, he tried to engage everyone he met to talk about politics, and always tried to find out what “team” they were on. If we didn’t agree with him, he got angry with us. And he wouldn’t stop sending these strange emails. My older brother blocked him first, then I did, and then my younger brother did. My mother was so unhappy with the change in him that she resolved to email him back, hoping beyond hope that he would question some of these newly held beliefs and return to being himself.
The rest of the media is complicit in these lies, soft-soaping the delusional, trying to use reason to appeal to the angry unreasonable delusional:
And now we’re going to get 2 more years about economic excitement held back the tide and weekly Vaseline-lensed interviews with how the poor neo-nazis feel about having to live under the iron boot of Tyrant Pelosi.

The fact that I missed that race is in part an illustration of JUST HOW DEEP THE WINS IN THE MIDWEST WERE. It’s genuinely incredible.

Step 1: Restore the Equal Time Provision and enforce it.
Step 2: Bring back the Fairness Doctrine
FCC began to reconsider the rule in the mid-80s, and ultimately revoked it in 1987, after Congress passed a resolution instructing the commission to study the issue. The decision has been credited with the explosion of conservative talk radio in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. While the FCC has not enforced the rule in nearly a quarter century, it remains technically on the books. As a part of the Obama administration’s broader efforts to overhaul federal regulation, the FCC is finally scrapping the rule once and for all.
