#thegreatpoolpondconversion - 190728
this week we learned that our roofing system works when it was field tested under real florida summer torrential rains, twice. no leaks, no pooling, no sagging.
Now that we’re gonna be working down in the pool/pond, we deployed the new gazebo for some shade.
that 91 degrees was a lie. our thermometer read 98.
the gazebo also has to be erected and taken down daily so we can get the tarp on. The brilliant Mrs. came up with a slick and quick way to do this.
And we’ve done it enough that now we can remove the tarp, move the rafters and open the gazebo in less than 15 minutes. and vice versa
after all the prep and waiting and anticipation, we finally started making sandbags
remember the sandbag filler we built
here’s how it works:
turn it upside down (2 people)
slide 6 bags onto the tubes
turn right side up
shovel in the sand
lift the filler
voila, 6 filled sandbags
we started laying the first part of the first wall
place 6 bags, then pound them down so they are hard and flat
we had done some other work before we started this so 18 bags was all we could manage our first day
the concrete are some excess blocks we were going to toss.
makes perfect filler.
when the wall starts to take shape, the process will make more sense
stay tuned
