With the cut down tank, secondary liner re-installed and the spillway sitting on it, we had to seal it into place again. This is an annoying step. Seal, wait a day for it to set, fill tank and see what happens. If it leaks, drain tank, wait for it to dry, apply more sealer, and round and round we go.
We went out on Friday (gasp!) to get a jump on this cycle. Great Stuff expanding sealing foam isn’t so Great. It was so-so and messy. We thought we sealed it all but no way to know.
Saturday morning we filled the tank and found one small leak. Impressive.
Drained about 3 inches, waited, this time applied silicone sealer (the duct tape of sealers) and waited till Sunday.
Early Sunday refilled the tank, saw no leaks and had breakfast.
All in all our sealing job isn’t pretty but it works. And it will all be hidden anyway.
Regular Sunday hours and it was time to set up a full functioning spillway test. With the pump in place, the hose routed, the wiring, the solar, the sealed spillway etc. If all the waterworks works, we don’t move the pump again and we start to rock in the hoses, wiring, etc.
And it did.
No leaks. Perfect flow. We did it.
We had to show off so we called our neighbors to have a look - who else is around? Remember Angel of the cactus moving fame?
It took over a year to get to this day.
The plumbing, flow, sound, look, seal, tank, rock, solar, wiring, design and everything works!!!!!
Exactly as we planned and visioned.
This is bigger than the fireworks on the last day of sand.
And even more than the last Wahoo(!) from a few weeks ago.
There was no moving on until all this meshed. Now there are several things we can start to do at the same time.
It may look like the test from a couple weeks ago - but that had a supporting wall that wasn’t built well and fell.
And several leaks we never got to fix.
Further, this is a full functioning test.
We don’t remove the pump any more - so we can start rocking in the hose and wiring.
And so we removed the basin and did just that.
This is way more solid construction than ‘the wall’. It’s sturdier, stable, makes a whole lot more sense and is easier to build.
And it looks better too.
There was also more washing of rocks, which maybe you’re gonna hear about for at least 10 more tons worth.
(Monday morning, not a leak in sight.)
