Now when it rains, it looks almost like a real pond.
On Saturday we pumped out 8-10” of rainwater. This is gonna be regular thing now. Fortunately it’s way easier to get the water out than to keep it out with tarps and rafters. So no complaints as rainy season approaches.
Sunday was another very hot one.
Deployed the gazebo then washed around 900 pounds of river jack rock.
Then we moved it and made 4 big piles on the deck.
Took about an hour.
Then we moved the gazebo over the pool and started lifting / tucking and tailoring the liner over the lower shelf.
We used those piles of jack rock to hold the folds in place.
Most of these rocks aren’t that heavy individually. Over the course of an hour though they take their accumulative toll because of the weird angles we were grabbing and lifting from.
By 2pm we were spent, and, oh shall we say ‘ripe’.
This picture is Monday after another good rain.
Look closely at this one and the first one at the top.
Most of the rain water flows down to the bottom. But some of it pools on the shelves.
And when it sits for a few days and cooks in the sun it gets kind of funky.
And we were sitting, kneeling, and crawling through the puddles so when we were done, we both had swampy pants.
In our spare time we’re beginning the process of identifying and ordering plants.
