#Thegreatpoolpondconversion - 200719
the first thing we did was admire all the seascaping work we did in the pond.
after some hearty pats on the back we got to work.
we started with three pallets of slate and one of jack rock. - around 6 tons.
we emptied and tossed the jack rock pallet a few weeks back when we finished contouring and tucking in the liner.
we emptied the first pallet of slate and tossed it a few weeks ago as well around when we finished the upper pool and started the big border.
today we finished the last two, power washing the remaining 1/2 ton of slate.
yup; no more slate to wash.
we estimate we blasted 11,000 pounds of slate all together.
of that about 20 pounds of dirt and other impurities washed off so none of that will wind up in the pond.
we distributed the slate around the border and will fill it in later.
it’s the same picture as last week, but with different rocks in the piles.
And now, The Final Countdown
Like any large project, this last, not easily reversible, big step requires timing and coordination of lots of moving parts.
And the sequence matters too otherwise you’re hip deep in the water trying to position 200# of pot, dirt and cypress.
And yeah, we’re kind of tired and would like to move on and are getting a bit impatient…
So the plants have started to arrive. They’re sitting in tubs waiting to be deployed.
Thursday we went safely shopping for a pot for the cypress.
we worked out the logistics of how we’re gonna get it over the rock border and onto the bridge and out to the middle.
We’ve got the pebbles, trays and we know the pump works.
We’re just waiting on the rest of the plants.
Then we open the valves and watch it fill.
Next Sunday.
Stay tuned.
