The pumps are pumping along. Like they always should have.
They go on when the sun comes out, they go off in the clouds and at night.
We barely pay attention to their functioning and now can focus on the sight and sounds.
The third and final solar panel is on backorder.
Saturday we drained out a foot again to expose the upper shelf.
Turns out this makes maintenance much easier than leaning over the border rock edge trying to lift or move stuff around.
We still wear the waders, but the water isn’t so deep and it’s easier to see where to step etc.
We put in the new bilge pump (only took 6 words, not a paragraph,) moved more butterfly weed to the field.
The papyrus is doing real well, so we separated the plants and now there are four.
Sunday we started screening in the filter tower.
First that meant digging two post holes
You’ve been following this long enough.
You know what happened right?
Of course you do.
Rock.
Might not have been coral rock and might very well have been an old fence post.
In any case we had to move about a foot to the right (or closer to the camera).
Not horrible, just wider than we first planned.
After getting the 2nd hole dug, the planking is straightforward
The tri-heron comes by most mornings.
It freely walks in the water now that it’s shallower.
The iguanas are around, but not digging up anything. We seem to have thwarted them (for now).
And it looks like a new batch of tadpoles.
