#Thegreatpoolpondconversion - 210905
Not having that third solar panel for 3 weeks, it’s clear now that we definitely needed the upgrade when we decided in November. 3 puts us over the top of more electricity than consumption. Still no ETA so we turned the fountain pump off.
We ended up doing sunday’s planned work on Saturday.
The gateway of these two panels is all that remains from the PVC fence that surrounded the deck.
Wilma blew most of it down in 2005.
Through the gate at the back we took down long ago - it’s where we built the jasmine bed and just to the right is where the filter tower is now.
End of an era.
First we dug the last post hole. Hit the obligatory coral rock at just under 3’ and quit.
No more digging, pounding, chipping. End of a second era.
We took the fence out and saved the posts.
After that, some massive weeding.
Sunday we covered the two pvc posts and sunk the last post.
We added 5 medium sized Sargasso Comets to the pond.
Today, Wednesday is the one year anniversary of when we first stocked the pond.
We have 50 or more fish now - mostly small.
Breeding and surviving says something about the chemical balance.
The fish like it, even though we’re still working on clearing more algae.
