Some Chicago students to skip school in protest
A sign of things to come?

CHICAGO (AP) — Hundreds of school children and their parents are gathering on Chicago’s South Side to begin a mass school boycott of the city’s school system.
Buses are lined up to take them to the northern suburb of Winnetka where they’ll attempt to enroll in more affluent schools.
State Sen. James Meeks is organizing the boycott, which is intended to draw attention to funding disparities in Illinois public schools.
Parents say they’re willing to keep their children out of their normal schools for as long as it takes to get state action.
Gillie Beal brought her 12-year-old grandson and says she just wants him to have the same access to teaching materials as suburban children.
