The last time I heard the name Adam Kokesh was after the gun nuts showed up at President Obama’s speech in Phoenix with AR15’s and other weapons. Some of those people supported him in his run for Congress in Arizona.
While looking into his support groups I found a strange melange of pseudo-libertarian factions who supported his candidacy along with Ron Paul’s. I say “pseudo-libertarian” because you can’t really be a fundamentalist xtian looking for theocracy and be a true libertarian at the same time - they are mutually exclusive; but that’s exactly where the Paleo libertian Rand and Ron Paul supporters are.
Many involved with supporting Kokesh were tied to the militia movement in Arizona, and included groups like the anti government conspiracy “4409” extremists on youtube, JT Ready, the anti immigrant Neo Nazi murderer, and the extremist survivalists who network through the “Freedom’s Phoenix” website. No, I’m not going to link to any of them… their idiot musings are almost as easy to find as Alex Jone’s are.
Kokesh and his friends are known for pushing the limits of gun rights and 2nd amendment political theater, and here is another instance in which we see Neo Nazi JT Ready and his ‘border guards” showing up to supposedly defend the Occupy wall street demonstration. If that gives you cognitive dissonance it should because there is this weird twilight zone in US politics where the extreme right drifts so far right they end up supporting the extreme left. The area where bleed over occurs is in anti war, and anti government conspiracy peddling.
Libertarian activist and radio host Adam Kokesh is hoping to get 1,000 people to march on Washington on July 4 — armed with loaded rifles. The plan, launched with a Facebook group today, is to gather on the Virginia side of the Potomac, where gun laws are lax, and then march across the bridge with loaded rifles slung over their shoulders into the District, where openly carrying weapons is generally prohibited.
“This will be a non-violent event,” the Facebook group warns, “unless the government chooses to make it violent.” Already, over 200 people have said they’ll attend the march. Here’s the message:
On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge. This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Should we meet physical resistance, we will peacefully turn back, having shown that free people are not welcome in Washington, & returning with the resolve that the politicians, bureaucrats, & enforcers of the federal government will not be welcome in the land of the free.
