The Holocaust-denying, openly racist, neo-Nazi British National Party now has a seat in European Parliament.
White supremacists worldwide are partying tonight.
The British National Party broke into the political mainstream last night when it won its first seat in the European Parliament.
The far-right party won almost 10 per cent of the vote in Yorkshire and the Humber, most of from Labour, by capitalising on public dissatisfaction over the expenses furore.
The BNP may also win a second seat in the North West where the party’s leader, Nick Griffin, is the lead candidate. At midnight the count had not been completed, although the party was not polling as strongly as it had expected.
The BNP will undoubtedly use its win to claim that it has political legitimacy but the mainstream parties will be dismayed by its progress.

Make that two seats in European Parliament.
The far- Right British National Party won their first ever seats in a national election last night as Labour crashed to poll humiliation.
The triumph for the neo-fascist party, which will now send two MEPs to Brussels, sent shockwaves through Westminster and increased pressure on Gordon Brown.
Labour MPs were horrified that their party’s vote had collapsed so dramatically that it opened the door for the far Right.
