It was the same denial of reality that caused republicans to believe Romney would win in a landslide last year. They have little/no capacity to realize that their reality is not the shared by a majority of us. The fact that they think Benghazi is bigger than Watergate, Iran Contra, and the Teapot Dome Scandal shows how little they know about U.S. history. I taught U.S. History for 33 years, and even some of the teachers who taught other subjects felt that history was not worth studying/learning. This attitude is the reason millions of Americans cannot distinguish among the different scandals that have taken place in the U.S., and it’s also why they think Benghazi is America’s #1 all time scandal. I also taught geography for at least 20 of those 33 years, and I think it’s a damn shame that many republicans are upset about a place they can’t even locate on a map.
