I actually know the location, having passed it on occasion when visiting friends in the area. That houses of worship change hands - and even religious affiliations isn’t uncommon. And it happens more and more as demographics shift in urban areas. One synagogue I’ve attended in Paterson was going to be turned into a church as the congregation moved to a few towns over - where most of the congregation had gone.

It was a gloriously designed building, with a balcony and immense stained glass windows and a gorgeous stained glass ceiling (which is featured on the congregation’s home page logo). The deal to sell to a church fell through, and while the congregation took some of the stained glass with them, the building is now in limbo.
