Svoboda controls a large segment of the parliament

Actually, they have a total of 36 out of 450 seats in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament. This comes out to 8%.

This is not to say they are not nasty or without power. They were part of the coalition governing the country until recently. As such they did have members in the cabinet. They also enjoy broader support in the west of the country, but certainly not a majority in any district.

Let’s keep a tiny bit of perspective. This party doesn’t even enjoy huge support compared to other European far right parties. In 2012 France’s National Front (not directly tied to anti-Semites in the same way, but similarly despicable by most other measures) earned 13.6% of the vote in the most recent National Assembly elections there.

Bottom line: you’re exaggerating. Again.
