What is it with “I’m not a scientist” as an excuse to ignore science? Most of these folks aren’t doctors or economists either and yet they’re very happy to legislate on health and the economy.

“I’m totally ignorant and unable to listen to or evaluate the evidence presented to me” isn’t really a great recommendation for public office.
