Gary Johnson: The Anti-Palin

I beg to differ in the most strenuous manner. First let me point out Sullivan’s headline: The Next Ron Paul? I suppose if you are a Ron Paul supporter, you won’t agree with my opinion.

The article Sullivan links to, which is written by a Washington Times reporter, has this paragraph:

Like Ron Paul, whom he endorsed in 2008, Johnson is an unabashed libertarian-and, in some ways, a purer one (he’s pro-choice, pro-free trade, and pro-immigration). So, while he’s no culture warrior or foreign policy hawk—he opposed the war in Iraq and the troop surge in Afghanistan—he outflanks any Republican on fiscal issues, proposing an immediate, across-the-board 43 percent spending cut.

So Johnson is not a socon like Paul, but that still leaves the isolationism, which in my opinion is dangerous and naive, and the “end the Fed” nuttiness on the economy. I give Johnson credit for distancing himself from Rand Paul’s remarks on the Civil Rights Act, but it’s not nearly enough to qualify him as having “a good head on his shoulders”.
