This is very common in the private equity/hedge fund world.
Often times, the complex tax structures mean that all the necessary filing docs (K1-s forms) for all the shell partnerships are not ready in time for the mid April timeline.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Romney does’t have enough info from Bain to file at this point.
