I don’t think that the U.S. is becoming weaker. It’s biggest problem right now is that like the British Empire it gave up the major source of its strength, its manufacturing base. A base that moved to China, as Britain’s moved to Germany and the U.S. Also like Britain it replaced manufacturing with finance as its major wealth generator, an activity that doesn’t actually create wealth. It creates money which is not the same thing.

But the U.S. is still growing. It’s just that China is growing faster. Not surprising considering how poor and backward it had been for many years.

But the wheel turns and nothing stays the same.
