More to the point, how is it that the New York legislature expects web masters within their state to verify a persons identity and that they are posting under their real given name? The only current option I can see is to require them to subscribe via credit card to the site before being allowed to post comments. Although this would still leave some opportunity for the use of fraudulent names it would probably cut anonymous and screen name posting down by 99% or better.

Of course it would also probably result in all total posting being down by close to that same 99% and drive nearly all the sites the Republicans are complaining about out of business too. So much the better right?

So much for the Republican claims of being for personal rights and small government, once again.
