Digital Map Error May Have Led to Minesweeper Grounding

It can’t be true that the US navy depends on just one GPS navigation system.
An error of eight miles is vast(should be about 1metre)
It should be mandatory that there be a cross check even if it’s done by a sextant ,clock,tables,and charts.
A cross reference with depth sounding should also be under observation.
Navigational blunders today are almost a product of amateur carelessness.
