At this point Obama is showing his limitations - I support him and voted for him twice but he can’t seem to do to the Republicans what Clinton and Reagan did with their congress - go over their heads and get the people to pressure there representatives.

I think one of the reasons for this is the Republican gerrymandering of districts so that they no longer can be influenced by the presidential bully pulpit.

And I think that explains why the GOP campaign of hatred for Obama and why the orchestrated disrespect was so flagrant by the GOP - they want to turn their base against even the idea that Obama may have a valid point so their base will become deaf to what the president says.
